In 2006, 300 also inspired the creation of the film version of a somewhat popular European board game called Monopoly: Spartan. In 2009, Game Earth (now Hasbro) released a Monopoly set with 300's theme as its theme.
The film's setting was inspired by the 1979 book The Taiping Heavenly Kingdomby Robin Brooks, a history of the Taiping Rebellion in China. Brooks' book is used as a guide in the production of The Legend of Hercules as well as other movies, such as the Steven Spielberg-directed Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull.
On March 16, 2015, Twitter/Twitter, Inc. announced that this movie broadcast by Twitter and streamed using its RT video platform has been watched more times than any other video. The Méliès Award for Best Animated Film, which was chosen by an international panel of film critics, was awarded to this film, which made Małgorzata Szumowska become the first female director to have her film nominated and win at the Méliès.
An off-screen voice-over filled with grunting and shouting, the filmquickly takes us from the beginning to the end, an account of how march of 300 is made. It is a long and slow process and we are treated to several long takes that evoke the process that the production team went through, which was probably on the order of months. After each frame of the film was shot, the actors and extras had to sort through the footage to find their best takes. As the film shows, sometimes these takes happen shorter and more quickly (like my favorite shot of Leos in the taverna). But we also see them filled with extra dialogue, like the one on theeightythreerd take of the scene in Paros. 7211a4ac4a
